Justin T. Woods is a civil litigator who routinely handles the defense of large losses on behalf of various companies, to include transportation and logistics corporations. Justin often coordinates the rapid response efforts of this firm in South and West Texas, regularly traveling to the scenes of significant accidents and overseeing investigations, often within hours of the occurrence. Justin has tried cases to verdict including in border venues where he has litigated most of his career and is well familiar with the unique intricacies of cases, other counsel, and Courts in these challenging locales.

Justin’s practice also includes construction defect litigation as well as premises liability, to include Dram Shop claims, on behalf of commercial enterprises.

Justin began his professional career as a claims adjuster for the largest US property and casualty insurer where he gained valuable insight and experience in evaluating serious bodily injury claims, assessing liability, and determining insurance coverage.

Justin also has experience representing real estate agents/brokers and accountants in professional responsibility litigation, and drafting formal coverage opinions (both commercial and personal lines) for insurers and policyholders.

Defended national retail food chain franchisee in alleged breach of services contract matter.

Construction Litigation

Successfully defended and obtained favorable settlement for multiple general contractors and subcontractors in alleged construction defect litigation matters.

Insurance Law

Provided coverage opinion and analysis to a Transportation Network Provider in a matter wherein a passenger was dropped off in an allegedly unsafe location and subsequently assaulted.

Product Liability

  • Defended retail chain location in a defective food product lawsuit, obtaining complete indemnification from manufacturer of said product and resulting in a $0.00 release of retailer.
  • Successfully defended national food delivery company against an allegation of negligent repair of a third-party’s truck’s brakes obtaining a release of the client without payment of settlement money

Transportation and Trucking 

  • Defended oil and gas services company in a serious motor vehicle accident between a pickup truck and UTV resulting in a defense verdict;
  • Obtained dismissal of an affiliated trucking company in a fatal heavy mine equipment accident lawsuit;
  • Represented multiple private Ambulance/EMS services in motor vehicle accident personal injury lawsuits in south Texas.

Other Representative Experience

  • Won Summary Judgment in a matter wherein Plaintiffs in a watercraft struck the submerged pilings of a fishing pier destroyed in a hurricane;
  • Defended Property & Casualty Insurer in federal court property damage case, securing a Motion for Summary Judgment in its favor;
  • Successfully argued Motion for New Trial nine years after entrance of what was determined to be an interlocutory Default Judgment in premises liability dog bite litigation.
